TAGUCHI TECHNIQUE AND DESIGN OF EXPERIMENTS

This one day Taguchi training course provides a simple introduction to the methodology of Design of Experiments (DOE) in a manufacturing context.  The course focuses on the design and improvement of products and processes.

No prior knowledge of DOE is necessary and only basic mathematical skills are required.  The content is delivered through a series of presentations and participant activities.

The Taguchi approach to design, development and improvement was developed by the Japanese quality consultant Dr. Genichi Taguchi during the 1980s.

Course participants will need a laptop with Minitab v19 installed to enable them to participate in the course activities.  Minitab v19 is required as earlier versions of Minitab function differently.  Participants can download a 30-day trial version of Minitab using the following link:

COURSE OBJECTIVES

The key objectives are to enhance the participants’ existing skills to enable them to become more effective at continuous improvement within their work process.  By the end of the course, a participant will understand:

  • The basic principles of experimental design
  • How to identify and select variables that may impact on a process
  • How to design and carry out a simple experiment
  • How to interpret the results of an experiment
